A man in his 40s was stabbed outside Portslade railway station on Thursday evening, Sussex Police said. He is in hospital in a stable condition.
Officers were called to the station at about 7.20pm on Thursday 8 October, after a report that a man had been stabbed. The force published its appeal for witnesses on Friday afternoon.
The police statement says the man was hurt during an altercation outside the station. Four men and two women were involved, and all six are believed to be in their late teens or early 20s.
He was taken to hospital and treated for a single stab wound. The statement does not mention any arrest.
What the police said
Detective Inspector Jennifer Pietersen said: “This incident will have understandably caused concern for local residents.
“Knife crime has no place in our communities, and we continue to work at pace to establish the full circumstances of what happened and identify those involved.”

Sussex Police wants to hear from:
- anyone who saw the altercation outside the station on Thursday evening
- anyone with CCTV, doorbell or dashcam footage from around the station at that time
- anyone with any other information about what happened
