Two men were seriously injured when they were struck by a vehicle at Brighton Marina on Friday night, Sussex Police said. A 45-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody.
Officers were called to a report of a disturbance outside Hollywood Bowl at about 10.30pm on Friday 30 October. The force said that during an altercation, two men were struck by a vehicle believed to be a black Range Rover. The driver left the scene.
The two men, aged 22 and 30, were taken to hospital with serious injuries. The details come from the force’s witness appeal published on Saturday 31 October.
The arrest
A 45-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of:
- attempted murder
- causing grievous bodily harm
- possession of cocaine
The force said he remains in custody. He has not been charged, and an arrest is not a finding of guilt.

Recorded crime at the marina
We pulled police.uk street-level figures for an area drawn tightly around the marina estate. August 2026 is the latest month published, so these figures come well before Friday’s incident.
| Month | Violence and sexual offences | All recorded crime and anti-social behaviour |
|---|---|---|
| June 2026 | 9 | 42 |
| July 2026 | 10 | 54 |
| August 2026 | 10 | 35 |
Police.uk maps each crime to the nearest of a set of anonymous points, so locations are approximate. The violence category covers everything from common assault to the most serious offences.
What it means for you
The force says it believes this was an isolated incident. Its statement mentions no continuing road closure or cordon.
If you were at the marina on Friday evening and have footage on your phone or dashcam, check it from around 10.30pm. Even a few seconds can matter, and the force has asked people to come forward if they have not already done so.
